Welcome to the Institute for Advanced Research on Evolutionary Economics

This is the beginning of a long project.  This site won’t be completed for many years, perhaps a decade or more.  Even then, it will always be an active, vibrant source of new ideas and information.  That is why a trust was created to fund the operation of this site for decades to come.

It is a long project because it will ultimately contain a great many new ideas about a wide range of topics.  Although it’s a lot of information, we will strive to make as much information as possible easily accessible primarily in the form of videos. In addition to our videos, we will also use drawings (yes a picture is worth a 1000 words and, in the case of an economic theory, 10,000 words), audio files and transcripts of the video to make the concepts more accessible.  We will also be adding an archival section that will contain harder to access information, such as scanned theory notes and less structured videos.

More description of how the Aftershock will motivate interest in a new economic theory and why a new economic theory is so important is discussed on the “Why Important?” tab on this website. Also available on that tab will be a downloadable chapter from our book Aftershock that discusses this issue in more detail. So, why start now? Because nothing is more powerful than an idea whose time has come. Yes, as we just said, we recognize it’s time hasn’t come yet, but it’s about to. When it does come, we want to be fully ready, because these ideas can help solve the many, many problems we will face then (and face today).

Many of the ideas discussed on this site may not seem directly related to economics because they cover a very broad range of topics that we don’t normally associate with traditional economic analysis.  But, then that’s part of the reason for the site—to dramatically change current thinking about economics.
